Oh yes, like your bad grammar starting a sentence with 'Love' ? I'm a District Sales Manager too, please don't tar us all with the same brush either. The majority of people we respectfully engage with on the door are pleasant and willing to discuss their energy requirements, however there is a small minority of people who spend too much time indoors watching Watchdog, reading the Daily Mail and playing round on price comparison sites who seem to think they know everything about the domestic energy market! I find such specimens of society amusing and they brighten up my day at least! Isn't it funny how people shop around for cheaper car insurance? cheaper flights? cheaper petrol etc etc, but when a polite and courteous person comes to your door offering to see if they can save you money on your energy bills, why is it they are treated by the weak minded with such disdain? To be honest, i couldn't care less, the people who grumble are in such a minutia of a minority of self-important whiners. So there you go.

Hey,
I work for Southern in the "door to door" sales team.
This individual should not be aloud to represent the company, at all.
He is going against everything we were taught before knocking in an intense training course, and if reported Southern will have absolutely NO hesitation to say goodbye to him, remove his energy sure license and make sure he will never be selling gas and electricity for any company again.
I'm sorry you've had a bad experience, but with the new regulations you can feel alot more trust in the industry not lying to you.

look poeple all these sales reps who dont know how to sell end up geting into stupid arguments with customers which is realy wasting they time, the customer jus needs to say they are vary happy with they current arangements and they would be left alone, in sales as a rule you take three no's before you move on, now if you think a sales rep is lieing to you, you can phone they company up wit they badge number and comfirm the truth, if you hav been miss qouted you should of seen the price and compare them with your triff, if you are too stupid to be able to do this then dont complain about door to door sales poeple they are making a living just like you do, dont listen to all these poeple who tell you to ignor sales poeple they dont pay your bills, so everybody talk for your self, remember if a company is more expensive they wont talk much about the unit prices, remember any company who is not local to would give a better deal then your local one, and all this crap about british company is rubbish the british owners would not give you any profits they make and being british does not make them cheeper or better all the companies invest and run oprations from the uk.

Today a Southern Electric salesman called at my mothers home , a semi sheltered bungalow, told her she was paying too much for her electricity and pursuaded her to sign up despite the fact that she told him that she should speak to me first. My mother is 84 , partially sighted and vunerable. He made no attempt to speak to the on -site manager to obtain her permission. It may be that Southern Electric may offer a cheaper deal - although I doubt it - but that is not the point. This type of approach is outrageous and I shall be complaining to The Ombudsman as well as to Southern Electric. 6.1.10

Southern Electric need to ensure their door to door bods are following the law, or themselves face prosecution for harrassment. After past experience of their selling tactics, I refuse to even enter into converstion with their field reps.

This week I saw someone approach my front door, so I opened it and at that point realised he was from SE so said I wasn't interested. He retorted that I didn't know what he was going to say. I said it made no difference I still wasn't interested and not to return. I closed the door and came inside. He moved his position to my front window where he stood for the ensuing 10 minutes, staring into my home. I was not intimidated (choosing to go about my business and studiously ignore him), but many would have been. His behaviour was outrageous.

I have written to SE and expect an apology. If the individual comes to my door again, I will call the police and, if necessary, seek an injunction.

Just been caught out by door to door Scottish Power persistant salesman. They give you short space of time to decide and then change your mind if you want to. Then if you go over that time they want to charge you for cancellation. What has it cost Scottish Power in that short time ? Very little, I suspect, so why does it need to cost me £50 to cancel ? That short time the salesman was here cost me dearly.
Someone told me that this type of 'selling' by the utility companies is being more strictly regulated from Jan 2010, I really hope that this is true. Beware

To ERIM METTO.
just read a brief comment from yourself.dated 7 september
You must be proud of yourself.
Nice to know that you know so MUCH about your gas and elect. company.
No wonder you dislike gas sales people. YOU actually don't have a clue.
Spend less time slagging them and more time checking prices on tarriff sheets and MAYBE you might cheer up and have a laugh with the next sales person that knocks on the door.
I promise you that they won't TRY a lie to you if you get more clued up.

P.s. i'm in gas sales and most of us promote tarriffs If given half a chance and really enjoy sharing a laugh with a new face at the door.
