photo vanity and vista versions

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

today i was asked to take a posed photo off a website i do. although this posed photo was quite embarrasing, it wasn’t too bad and i thought it was quite funny. it certainly wouldn’t do harm to the person asking me to take it off, and would probably make them more popular. people do have this thing about photos and looking bad in them, but i think they take it too far. if you pose for a photo, you should be prepared for the consequences, and if the outcome is funny have a laugh and don’t get upset, after all it is probably how other people see you every day anyway.

windows vista seems to be progressing steadily, what does concern me is the number of versions, or ‘editions’ they’ve got:

  • Starter
  • Home Basic
  • Home Premium
  • Ultimate
  • Small Business
  • Professional
  • Enterprise
  • plus all the european / malaysian ‘special’ editions.

it’ll be funny when the average computer novice goes into pc world/dixons/currys and asks them what version of windows they should go for. bullshit will be spouted. and i thought they were trying to make computers easier, or that’s what they’d like you to think. at least it will keep some people in a job. the it world already has too many big new words for the same old thing, maybe the next five years will be even better for ipod, i mean apple.

    Cillit Bang, Barry Scott

    Tuesday, October 11th, 2005

Boycott Barry Scott and don’t buy any of his filthy Banging Clit. The adverts were funny at first, but were just a clever marketing ploy which has been vastly overused, or as us dnb heads would say ‘well rinsed’, it’s a pun too. Now they are crap, worse than the cringeworthy firstdirect fan club ads. I’m also quite sure nature isn’t happy with potent Cillit Acid. Why not use something like Ecover. BBC has an article about the clits spamming weblogs. The gabba mix ain’t bad though. Bang, I’m gone.

    Search Engines

    Tuesday, October 11th, 2005

Google seems much slower to pick up changes to my scarcely visited sites than yahoo, msn or altavista. Maybe this is because of its more intelligent alogrithms detecting that I’m not very important and it not checking my sites much, or maybe it is that google doesn’t bother trying that hard. I am also much lower down google’s rankings than I am on the other search engines. Could it be that google is getting complacent?

    New mx5

This is looking like a good car, particularly like that they haven’t made it over complex or added too many unnecessary features. If you go to http://www.mazda.co.uk/mx5/ there is a flash mini site. When this was first made live it was full of mistakes, but it has been quickly updated and improved. I can still spot what I at least think is a mistake under features > handling. The first item is ‘consisten nimble feel’ I think they meant consistent. I tried to contact mazda about this and other mistakes, but couldn’t find a technical contact. e-mailing webmaster@mazda.co.uk gave me a bounce. On the subject of mistakes on major company websites, I’ve noticed quite a few recently, but they do seem to dissapear quite quickly. Its as if they do the proof reading after making it live!

    Yoof Phenomena

    Thursday, October 6th, 2005

A few times I have seen teenagers wearing baseball caps with the price tag and plastic hanging hook still on. At first I thought that they had just bought them, or maybe even stolen them, but it turns out this is a new fashion. It shows that your gear is ‘fresh off the shelf, innit’. If you widdit, you leave the tag on.

Has anyone else noticed this? Who started the craze, Usher, Dizzee, Fiddy? It’s almost as stupid as wearing a sticking plaster on your face all the time.

Ps. I’ve also had reports of these same people sucking babies dummies – dummy in one hand, fag in the other! Update: I have found people talking about this on chavscum.co.uk and chavtowns.com – so it’s officially a chav thing:

The stupid things they get up to remind me of Brass Eye and Nathan Barley.
